Sparrow House has grown more quickly than a person’s heart can take. At the present time, we have one house with 3 women and 3 children – and another woman on the way. Two of the women are currently working – one has been trained to work from home using her computer skills, and the other is working at a nearby ranch – helping with the animals. The third woman has just arrived and is taking a few weeks to just rest and adjust to the changes in her life. The house is full and I have concerns about the woman on her way – but there is no way we could refuse anyone, they are safe here – if not always comfortable.
The children are the hardest. It’s hot here and there is very little for them to do. One of the children has autism and the other is barely a toddler. The oldest is 8 and makes an awesome leader of his little crew. They have a Wii and someone donated a kiddie pool for the yard, but I know its not enough.
There’s a house down the road for rent, but it requires a deposit of the first months rent. The newest sparrow isn’t working yet, but she has many skills. It would be a perfect spot for her and the children. I’m just praying it’s still available when the funds are.
The house will be complete chaos when the 4th sparrow arrives. She is virtually homeless, so there is no choice. To my knowledge she hasn’t been abused, but never-the-less, she is in desperate need of help. I’m tempted to let her stay with me, but I know it really isn’t an option. Part of the process is to learn to adapt in new environments, chaos is just part of the routine.
